Time to Rest

Many of you may know I just came back a few weeks ago from being on a five week sabbatical. It was a time that I pulled away from everything, spent time reading, spending time in quietness, listening and resting. I knew this was something God was asking me to do and even though I thought there is no way I can do this, I knew I had to do it some how. My body and mind was exhausted. I sensed God saying, You either do this or you are going to have to do it. You need rest!" Thankfully, through a wonderful church family and an amazing husband who provided the time and stepped up to fill roles that I would normally do, I was able to get rest and spend quality time listening to the voice of God. Was it easy? No, not at all and I had to battle the voice of guilt every single day. But what I learned is how valuable and important rest and sabbath is to our body, our mind and our soul. It is necessary and needed. God did not ask us to take sabbath for Him, He knew how much we needed it. I have decided to always make sure to make time for rest, quietness, and sabbath. I won't allow other things to come between this very important practice anymore.

I found this YouTube post by Crystal Evans Hurst. It expresses much of how I feel. If you are struggling with being tired, or maybe even exhaustion I encourage you to listen to this post.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30).
