Are You Ready to Walk on Water?

Matthew 14:27-29
But Jesus immediately said to them:
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

This passage of scripture has always amazed me. It is one of those passages that is so descriptive and I can visualize it as if I were there. I can almost feel the wind and the mist of water spraying up on my face and the waves violently washing over the boat. I can visualize myself taking a bucket and trying to scoop the water out as fast as it is coming in, while trying to keep my balance and not fall overboard. I am losing this battle. It won't be long before we sink and drown. I feel that desperation.

And then there He is. At least I think that is Him. Am I seeing things? I rub my eyes and then He speaks., "Don't be afraid!" I have heard this before. Am I dreaming? Is this real? "Lord if it's really you tell me to come to you!" "Come!" Without hesitation, I am out of that boat because I know it is safer to be on the water with Jesus than in this boat.

Have you been there? Maybe you are right now. Do you feel like you are about to drown? Are you ready to walk to Jesus on the water?
All it takes is faith, believing though you can't see, trusting that God has something more for you. Maybe you need to get out of the boat and run to Him. Maybe getting out of the boat is so that others can see that God is still a miracle working God and because of your faith they will have the courage to come to Jesus too.

My prayer today is that I will walk in such a way that others can see that God is still at work and in our desperation and frustrations He still calms the storms and gives us hope.

Let's have a water walking day! Are you up for the challenge? It takes one step of faith at a time, fixing our eyes on Jesus.
