Artist Thoughts

"Artist are not like athletes. We are not striving to win a gold metal. We cannot "beat" other creatives. We cannot come first. Sports are objective. Art is subjective."

I love this! It is so true! Oh, we can practice to improve our skill but looking for others approval or to be like someone else will never bring us joy. There really is no comparison in art. This thought process has given me more freedom in my art. Everyone doesn't have to like it or even get my creative process.

I once had someone say to me in the studio, while painting a picture, "I'm going to stop right there because even with all of its imperfections, I love it just the way it is." That has stuck with me. I visualize God saying that when He created each of us. There is no comparison.
