Don't Miss the Joy of Today
We had "Bible Journaling Together" last night and I can't even begin to express how meaningful it was for each of us. As we shared our scriptures and our heart God was clearly in our midst. Several of us shared how we have been waking in the night or having trouble sleeping and having thoughts that are discouraging and destructive. This was a verse that someone shared, which spoke to all of us.
Psalm 16:7-8 (NLT)
I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
If you wake in the night and your heart is troubled don't forget to whisper the name of Jesus. I always begin to pray Lord you are my rock my fortress, my everlasting Father my Prince of Peace, My Hope, my shield... Think of everything He is to you, every scripture you have ever read, that describes Him and His promises. And if possible say this aloud to Him.
Dont allow the enemy of your soul to whisper descouragment, guilt or destructive thoughts to you. Stop him in His tracks with messages of hope, joy and peace that only God can give. The struggle is real! I have experienced it and I know how hard this can be. Be intentional about redirecting your thoughts and speaking the name of Jesus. He is our hope and source of strength.
This was my scripture last night.
Psalm 65:5-8
5 You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas,
6 who formed the mountains by your power,
having armed yourself with strength,
7 who stilled the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations.
8 The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
We took a few minutes after reading our scriptures, last night, to pray and let God have all of those disturbing thoughts. We prayed that God would take that empty place and fill us with His joy.
I just had to share this morning...
I slept and didn't wake up, at all last night! That is the first time in weeks! God is so good! If you are still struggling with thoughts that are not of God and keep you awake at night, don't give up! Give them to God in prayer and ask for His joy to fill your heart and soul. Taking words from Brooke last night, "It will get better!" She is a living testimony of this truth!
Kim Wright, another of my dear friends in our Bible Journaling group sent this message this morning. "Don't wait for something to feel better. You'll miss the joy of today." Thank you, Kim! I love it!
Have a joy filled day!
