Good Friday - Romans 5:8
"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Roman's 5:8
As a child I never could understand why we would call today Good Friday. What could be good about Jesus suffering and dying on the cross for me? Are we just that callous that we would say, "Oh this is good!"
But when you fully get the magnitude of His love, because it really is all about His love, your heart is full with gratitude for the grace that He showed on that cross. He did it out of love. Love for a mankind that didn't deserve a single thing. That had been given chance after chance to get it right but had failed. He did it because He was compelled to make a way. A way for us to come back to the Father, a way for us to be made new, to be made complete and restored again. He did it out of love.
I know there are other reasons why we call this day Good Friday and you can Google search those but when I call today Good Friday I now have a new understanding, that's different from when I was a child. I understand His love for me and that is GOOD!
