His Workmanship
I realized today as I glanced over to my dining room table, and saw a container filled with paint brushes and pallet knives, how much joy that container gives me. I'm sure, for my husband, and possibly to anyone else who walks into my home, it probably looks like clutter. But to me it is beautiful! I want to set them out for display. They make me happy! Why, you ask? Because for me they look like possibilities, hope, unique ideas, I know their potential, I can just imagine what they can accomplish. Just looking at them across the room, I can imagine what they can create. They have purpose and meaning. But I also realized that they need me to fulfill their purpose. Otherwise they just sit in the container.
I then had another thought. This one may not have just been my own. The thought came to me. "That's how God sees you." God? Me? "Yes, you are beautiful, unique and filled with such possibilities and hope. You make Me smile because I knows your potential. If you will just allow, I will pick you up, each day, work with you, and begin to paint the picture I envision for your life. We will do it together. It will be beautiful!"
Paint brushes, maybe, but so much more, for me. They each, in their unique design, make me smile. I think God may just see you and me the same way.
For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].
